updated 04:45 pm EDT, Wed August 11, 2010

iSpot 4G hack allows connecting non-iOS devices

A simple hack is now available for the Clearwire iSpot 4G WiMax mobile router that will lets users connect non-iOS devices. The unlock is said to go without shell commands and also enables a USB tether mode. A warning lets users know a Clearwire warranty and service plan will likely be voided if the hack is performed.

The same unlimited 4G data access is retained, and the service costs $25 per month. As before, the router can have up to eight Apple or, now, non-Apple devices active at one time.

The iSpot 4G has 64-bit and 128-bit WEP, WPA, and WPA2 security, and an internal four-hour rechargeable battery. It can be plugged into a standard AC outlet or an optional 12V car adapter. Clearwire sells it for $29. [via BGR]
