Investment seen as an Android push

Google Ventures, the search company's venture capital division, has reportedly invested in the successful App Store developer ngmoco. The money is said to have been part of a new round of funding, likely fetching between $3-5 million, sources have told TechCrunch.

Ngmoco has created a long list of popular iPhone and iPad games such as Rolando, We Farm, and Topple, among others. The company has also continued to expand with several recent acquisitions, including iOS developers Freeverse and Stumptown Game Machine.

Although Google Ventures claims to be a distinct entity from its parent company, the ngmoco investment is nonetheless viewed as a potential push for Android. Ngmoco has yet to release any games on Google's mobile platform.
