iPad support a possibility
German outfit Graebert has launched ARES Commander Edition for the Mac. The software handles 2D and 3D CAD tasks, relying OpenGL rendering. It's said to be "fully command compatible" with AutoCAD, but lacking in some of the Windows ARES' features, such as VoiceNotes or spellchecking.
The suite's interface includes palettes, dockable toolbars, a command-line input and a new ToolMatrix. Commander's modeling options include 3D ACIS, and when developing apps, coders can turn to C, C++, Lisp and the DRX API. The program is selling for a base of $495 through September; beginning in October, the price will rise to $995. Future, unspecified iPad support is under consideration.
