NuKit combines launcher, calculator, other utilities

updated 06:20 pm EDT, Fri August 6, 2010

Software can access hidden Dock, Finder features

Nulana has launched a new productivity title, NuKit 1.0. The software provides a number of utilities for a variety of Mac OS X tasks. It can launch programs, edit shortcuts, move windows and run calculations. The Launcher offers a quick-search function, narrowing down choices as the user types the first few characters of the application title. NuKit gives users access to hidden Dock settings, Finder preferences and system settings, allowing appearance changes such as a 2D dock.

The software provides options to move and resize windows via dragging or touch gestures on notebooks, with support for two-and three-finger gestures on Apple's new Magic Trackpad. Users can also take advantage of two automatic option commands, Real Zoom and Real Close. Real Zoom expands windows to fill the screen, while Real Close shuts down an application when the user closes an application window.

NuKit 1.0 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. It retails for $20.
