FxFactory Pro 2.5 rebuilds Slideshow Generator, adds effects

updated 05:15 pm EDT, Wed August 4, 2010

Eight new effects add transitions, color control

Noise Industries has launched FxFactory Pro 2.5, an update of the effects plugin collection. The software contains over 160 filters, generators and transitions. It can render effects up to 10-bit YUV quality, and supports hardware acceleration for previews and rendering. Editors can use stock or custom presets, or create their own project-specific plugins for Final Cut and After Effects, which can then be saved and shared. The collection as a whole is compatible with Final Cut Pro, Motion, Final Cut Express and After Effects.

Version 2.5 adds a new user interface for the Slideshow Generator, and four new transition effects for slides. Eight new plugins have been introduced: Local Contrast intensifies light-dark transitions, and Vibrance adjusts color saturation while minimizing clipping. The new Genie Filter pinches, stretches and slides an image, while Genie Transition applies the same effects to one clip as another is brought in.

Accordion reveals a destination clip by pushing a source clip to one side, and unfolding the incoming one. Origami (Square) and Origami (Triangle) fold outgoing clips, or unfold incoming material. The last addition is Page Turn, which flips clips on or off of each other.

FxFactory Pro 2.5 requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or 10.6.3, as well as an ATI or NVIDIA graphics chipset. It supports Final Cut Pro 6 and 7, Motion 3 and 4, Final Cut Express 4 and After Effects CS3, CS4 and CS5. The cost for the set is $400.
