Version 6 to integrate FamilySearch.org

Synium Software has updated its genealogy software, MacFamilyTree. The utility allows users to document and visualize family histories, which can be detailed in reports such as ancestor and dependent charts, statistics and family charts. MacFamilyTree supports GEDCOM and LDS, along with CoreAnimation, CoreData database systems and 64-bit processing. Users can input data from a variety of sources such as a Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Version 6 adds a Family Tree Editor, replacing the Family Assistant for showing relationships, researching information, or editing family members' information. The update also offers a Places Editor and a redesigned UI that focuses on four primary categories -- Edit, Views, Reports and Export -- for improved navigation. Other improvements include a ToDo Manager, improved charts, better GEDCOM import and export, and numerous speed enhancement for different operations.

MacFamilyTree 6 runs on Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. It costs $50, while the iPhone app is an additional $5.
