Fortune Magazine reaches iPad

updated 12:55 pm EDT, Fri July 30, 2010

Includes free issue, hooks for live content

Magazine publisher Time Inc. has brought Fortune to the iPad. Much as with Sports Illustrated, the Fortune app attempts reproduce the look and layout of print issues. The iPad edition is enhanced with hooks for live content like stock prices and CNN business news, as well as in-app multimedia such as photo and video galleries.

The software is a free download from the App Store. One iPad-specific sample issue is included, narrowed down to highlight articles, such as the Fortune 500 and the investigation into Bernie Madoff. Original issues must be bought on a per-copy basis, as Apple has not yet allowed magazine subscriptions for iPad apps.
