Front panel seen as main problem
Apple may have finally solved the problems preventing white iPhone 4s from being mass-produced, a source claims. As has been suggested before, one of the main dilemmas is argued to have been getting the right paint thickness -- specifically on the front panel, though, and in a way that doesn't affect the proximity sensor or create light bleeds. A complicating factor is said to be the need to silkscreen the paint on in a way that leaves a gap for the LCD.
The back panel is thought to be fine as far as technical issues go, since there is no display to account for. The paint itself, however, has allegedly required a custom mix to hold color without flaking, and a binder Apple has been using is said to be responsible for a slight offwhite tint. The source nevertheless hints that Apple may be ready to ship white iPhones in the near future, having solved critical issues.
Apple has delayed the availability of a white option several times. Having missed the iPhone 4's June 24th launch, a target was first set for the second half of July, and then late in the month. A minority of shoppers are believed to be holding off on buying an iPhone until white can be picked.

Why?
I just don't think there is a lot of people who want a white iPhone 4 to warrant the amount of headaches apple/fox conn have endured to produce it. Why did they just choose another dark color like grey or blue or offer a project RED edition?
