HP webOS 'PalmPad' to support stylus input?

updated 08:50 pm EDT, Tue July 20, 2010

Tablet to support handwritten notes

HP's upcoming webOS tablet, now referred to as the 'PalmPad,' will reportedly support stylus input alongside standard touch gestures, an unnamed source has told Examiner. The device is said to integrate a screen that is capable of recognizing a Wacom pen or similar stylus.

The added functionality is expected to help the PalmPad compete with the iPad, which is primarily designed for touch input. Several third-party companies already make a stylus for the iPad, however the designs, such as Ten One's Pogo Sketch, utilize a blunt tip rather than a sharper point.

Previous rumors suggested the PalmPad may be launched before the end of the year, although the time-frame has yet to be officially confirmed.
