Apple revenue up 61%, Mac sales up 33%

Q4 revenue expected to hit $18 billion
Apple has announced financial results for the third quarter of its fiscal year. The company achieved $15.7 billion in total revenue, an increase of 61 percent over the same period last year. Income was bolstered by record Mac sales, up 33 percent and reaching 3.47 million units. MacBooks showed stronger performance than the company's desktop lineup.
Although Apple's Q3 results only included three days of iPhone 4 sales, the company saw a unit increase of 61 percent from the same period last year and a jump in revenue of 74 percent. Although iPad numbers cannot be compared to earlier quarters, sales reached 3.27 million units and $2.17 billion in revenue.
As expected, iPod sales continued to slide by 8 percent for the quarter. Related services including iTunes, however, showed an increase in revenue by 27 percent to reach $1.2 billion in revenue.
