Waveforms, audio-levels also change colors

MOTU has released an update to its audio workstation software, Digital Performer 7.2. The software allows users to record, edit, mix and process audio and MIDI tracks. It is geared toward songwriters, studio productions, film and TV soundtracks, or live performances. It has a track layout view, mixing board, and transport controls capable of handling loop-based productions, linear sequencing and score notation-based composition. DP has a guitar amp emulator and features Wave64 support for 4GB and larger files.

Version 7.2 adds customizable user-interface themes, with one-click switching between each theme. There are over a dozen new themes, each capable of numerous visual adjustments, and four light-to-dark adjustments are available for the default UI. The themes are stored as .PNG files, which can be altered in Photoshop for unlimited possibilities with no danger of altering core functionality.

The latest version features new color options for waveforms and audio-level readout to work alongside the new themes. Other additions are right-click menu access and live searches in list windows.

DP 7.2 works with Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher, including Snow Leopard. A multiprocessor Intel chip and 2GB of RAM are recommended, with Pro Tools 8.0.3 required for DAE mode. The new version is now shipping for $800.
