Boxee says Boxee Box now finished

Boxee's Chief Product Officer Zach Klein today showed the finished version of the Boxee Box in a video demo (below), indicating that it's starting production. The completed version still has the distinctive sinking box design but has a more refined look and feel. Among other changes, the Box now has a much more fingerprint-resistant glossy black finish.

The media hub is intended both as a companion device, for sharing music, photos and video from Macs and Windows PCs on the local network but also as a fully independent set-top box. Among the goals are support for online video services as well as free podcasts and streaming Internet radio from, Pandora and others. NVIDIA Tegra hardware is inside and is fast enough to play 1080p video and support hardware-accelerated Flash 10.1 video when ported over.

Boxee hasn't settled on a final price, but it may cost about $200 and is due to ship through D-Link by November. The client software on Linux, Mac and Windows computers should continue to exist in the future.

The whole video was about the production Boxee and its unique design and how people will want to look at it and touch it. When they actually plus it in and turn it on, it is stuffed behind a chair and you can't see it.

It is also huge. In this day of iPods, classic or touch. Why would you get something this big? The rumored next Apple TV, will simply be like an iPod Touch in form.

    Re: Awful

I agree....but it is called "Boxee" and not "Slimee" or "Tynee". Likely the components in the thing are not even taking up half the space provided.

BTW: that is some "Creepee" facial hair.
