ASUS Eee PC 1215N due August 23 for under $500

The ASUS Eee PC 1215N has been unofficially confirmed for the US market, with a ship date set for sometime around August 23, says a Friday report. The price tag, while not confirmed, will be less than $500, Engadget said. The Eee PC will be the fastest in the range, as it will feature the latest 1.8GHz dual-core Atom D525 processor.

It will also have NVIDIA's Optimus technology onboard to switch between Intel's integrated and NVIDIA' discrete Ion graphics to maximize the battery life. The 12.1-inch netbook has a 720p resolution and can support 1080p playback through an HDMI output. Ion can decode H.264, VC-1 and MPEG-2 videos. Other significant features rare for the netbook class include USB 3.0 ports and Bluetooth 3.0.

I'll be impressed if it actually does go for under $500.

If this does go for around $500

With an HDMI out, HD video, USB3...
Besides maybe battery life, what advantages would an iPad have over this??
