updated 03:40 pm EDT, Thu July 8, 2010

Samsung Wave now at Bell and Rogers in Canada

The Samsung Wave smartphone, complete with its Super AMOLED display and Bada operating system, is now shipping at Canadian providers Bell and Rogers. At Bell, it costs $30CAD ($29) on a three-year contract, or $300CAD ($288) contract free. At Rogers, it's significantly more expensive, at $100CAD ($96) on a three-year term or $475CAD ($456) contract-free. The expected July 8 release at Bell was confirmed with this announcement.

Apart from its display and OS, the phone is one of Samsung's most powerful with a 1GHz processor, a five-megapixel camera with HD video recording, Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

The minimum monthly plan at Bell to qualify for the subsidized three-year price is $50CAD ($48), and the same is true at Rogers. The plans are similar, with both including 200 anytime local talk minutes and 500MB of data.

The Rogers plan includes unlimited social networking or basically unlimited access to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Bebo, LinkedIn, Flickr, and Photobucket. As a bonus, users can also pick from unlimited messaging, unlimited nationwide messaging to five favorites, unlimited calling to Rogers and Fido customers or 350 anytime minutes per month. Free evening and weekend calling minutes start at 9:00PM. Rogers offers two other, costlier price plans.

Bell offers unlimited local minutes for the first six months, along with unlimited local weeknight minutes. Bell has three other plans available as well.
