Page to include new sharing, iOS extensions
Apple has begun accepting applications for the beta of a new MobileMe Calendar interface. Among the changes being implemented is a revised layout, reminiscent of the Calendar app on the iPad. The web app should now load faster, and a new list view is designed to make it easier to track events. Because the beta uses CalDAV, calendars can also be loaded with the native apps on Mac and iOS devices; support for the Windows version of Outlook is "coming soon."
Sharing is a major emphasis of the update, as beta testers can now create shared calendars editable by other MobileMe members. For people outside of the service, a read-only public calendar can be linked. Events can now include e-mailed RSVPs, which if accepted are automatically reflected in the Calendar.
To participate in the beta, people must already be subscribers to MobileMe, and click on the "request an invitation" button on the Calendar page. Testers are being added in the order of application during the next several weeks.
