AT&T aims to settle AT&T Wireless lawsuit

updated 12:45 pm EDT, Fri July 2, 2010

Customers may get partial reimbursement for fees

AT&T has proposed a settlement over a class-action lawsuit dating back to the company's time as AT&T Wireless. The company still denies any wrongdoing, however it has agreed to finally settle the dispute in an attempt to minimize costs of continuing litigation.

The plaintiffs originally accused the company of deceptive billing practices, including charges for a variety of services without prior authorization from customers. Fees related to mMode data service, ENH Discount International Dial, phone cards and the Universal Connectivity Charge.

The settlement is expected to reimburse every qualifying class member for the various fees, with each benefit ranging from $7 and $10. [via FierceWireless]

    What a load of Hooey!!!

$7 to $10 per customer? That is a free ride for AT&T. Why does the government not pursue a criminal case against companies for antics like these. If any individual does something like this - well they would be in jail faster than a speeding bullet. I say the remedy for this situation is

    1. The top 10 officers of AT&T and its board of directors spend 2-5 years in jail doing hard labor as felons. After all the supreme court has ruled that companies are individuals.

    2. AT&T wireless pay back 10 times the amount overcharged to each customer

    3. AT&T pay 100,000 times the amount overcharges as fines.

And if this is applied to all companies, crime in America will disappear and so will our budget deficit. Also do it to a few fortune 100 companies and watch all of them suddenly become honest.
