Nokia chief hints at upcoming MeeGo tablet

Speaking in a Thursday interview with the Wall Street Journal, Nokia's newly-appointed mobile chief, Anssi Vanjoki, hinted at the future addition of a MeeGo powered tablet. This corroborates an earlier report, but Vanjoki didn't get into specifics on the record, but did say the MeeGo platform will be an important asset for Nokia. He did say the platform will offer a generous app development environment and support GPS as well as Bluetooth.

The MeeGo Notebook platform, co-developed by Intel and Nokia, has Google Chrome integrated into it, but users can opt for other browsers. Intel is likely to develop its own MeeGo-powered tablets, powered by its Atom processors. Nokia, meantime, is rumored to be making a 9-inch tablet with an ARM CPU and MeeGo software.
