Event a rare excursion for Apple's CEO
Apple CEO Steve Jobs is indeed not planning to go to this month's Allen & Co. retreat in Sun Valley, Idaho, says All Things Digital's Kara Swisher. The writer cites only "sources" in a Twitter post, but joins the Financial Times' Kenneth Li in denying an earlier claim by Bloomberg, normally considered extremely reliable in such matters. Li has mentioned that Jobs was at least invited to attend the conference.
Held annually, the event nominally gathers together media executives to host daily presentations, and afterwards engage in leisure activities like golf. It can sometimes be a springboard for major deals, however, such as the Disney acquisition of ABC. Jobs has only been in attendance twice: once in 1999, and again in 2005.
