Review: iPhone 4

Redesigned hardware, improved software

The iPhone 3GS provided several incremental upgrades over its predecessor, but without any significant evolution in overall design. The first three generations share the same external form of the original iPhone released three years ago. In that same period of time, the smartphone market has exploded with a flood of new designs. Although the iPhone 3GS represented the best device on Apple's platform, some of its specs have begun to seem dated against the competition. The latest iteration, the iPhone 4, finally brings a leap in design. The device marks Apple's attempt to solidify its dominant stance in the smartphone market, pairing fresh hardware with a major upgrade to the iOS 4 firmware. Our in-depth review takes a closer look at the new design, including the welcome additions and several glaring faults.

    Review of iPhone4

You guys did a great review of the iPhone4. While I don't agree with everything you said overall this was one of the best, fair and balanced review I have read.

    Deleting SMSs

I work in support for client servers. When a server has hiccups, it sends messages to my cell phone via SMS. Some days, I get no messages at all, but then there are days where I get 300 messages in 5 minutes, and another 200 5 minutes later.
On my previous phone, I had the option to 'select all => delete selected' and the issue was dealt with, within 20 seconds. On the iPhone, this is a lengthy ordeal, since you have to select each message separately - and no, they don't all arrive in the same conversation, each message starts its own conversation.
I complained about that since my iPhone 1.0 days, but nothing got done so far. This is the single most annoying issue I have with this device, everything else is perfect!

Good review. I agree with most of it. I think many people are going to be on the fence waiting for a reception issue fix.
