Madrid, Barcelona, Chicago Apple Stores take steps forward

Lincoln Park outlet waiting on outside work

Progress has been made in the development of three upcoming Apple Stores, reports say. Two of them are located in Spain; a Madrid outlet will be situated in the Xanadú shopping center next to Nike Madrid, and has already had a black construction facade erected. In Barcelona, meanwhile, a similar facade has been put in place inside the La Maquinista mall. No opening dates have been set, but construction is unlikely to go on any longer than the fall.

A Lincoln Park store in Chicago, Illinois is said to be essentially finished, in terms of both the interior and the exterior. The only obstacles to opening are the completion of an adjacent public plaza, and the renovation of a nearby Chicago Transit Authority station, the latter of which Apple has agreed to spend $4 million on. The store itself should resemble one in Scottsdale, Arizona, which has glass facades on opposite ends. An opening is anticipated later this summer.
