Apple hints iOS 4 for iPad by November, iWork for iPhone

updated 07:55 pm EDT, Mon June 28, 2010

iAd expected to launch on iPad in November

Apple has quietly hinted at a launch window for iOS 4 on the iPad, while the company's website has slipped another clue that iWork is on its way to the iPhone. An AdAge report suggests that Apple has been telling marketers that the iAd platform will extend to the iPad sometime in November.

Steve Jobs initially pointed to iOS 4 availability on the iPad sometime "this fall." The iAd platform is known to be directly integrated with iOS 4.

Many of Apple's international online stores posted a "Learn more" link for iPhone AppleCare warranties, which includes software support for "iWork for iPhone" among other topics. The iOS 4 pages briefly included an iPhone interface image showing an option to open an attachment in Keynote, although the company quickly replaced the iWork reference with an iBooks selection.

Apple has yet to officially confirm if iWork will be coming to the iPhone. [via AppAdvice and MacRumors]

    NOVEMBER?

    For iOS4 on the iPad?
    That's ridiculous!

    Seriously?

Agree with Jeff above...November is ridiculous. Having it on my iPhone I see the massive advantages to having it on the iPad, folders, multi-tasking etc....could really push the iPad into laptop-like category. Hard to wait, unless it's IOS4.1 with some massive upgrades I guess;)

Will it print ? Will it allow access to network dr

Currently I would love to use the iPad for work use but the total lack of wireless printing and network drive access support makes it impractical. I can only hope the iOS4 for the iPad will bring these much needed features.

    Moving forward

I can only presume that the delay suggest that this will be substantially different to the iPhone version, if not its a bit of an embarrassment though unlikely one that will affect Apple in a detrimental manner in terms of sales thankfully due to the relative lack of competition.

    Quit yer bitchin'.......

I guess non of you ever waited for a Windows update, huh? November is 7 months from launch - for a completely reworked operating system. 7 months - that just isn't that long! Seriously - I would rather have it done right with all the appropriate platform features included (like spyintheskyuk suggests) than have it now and have it only be a clone of the iPhone OS. 7 months - it just ain't that long! Get over yourselves and the "I have to have it now!" mentality. I love my iPad - it is an awesome device! I have used it everyday since I got it (launch day) and I don't regret the purchase one iota.

My only regret is that I didn't buy 2 - my wife keeps commandeering mine to play Plants vs. Zombies - she's obsessed! Oh well - when v2. hits (November, you think?) with upgraded specs and a front facing camera, I'll give her mine and get a new one for myself. In the meantime, I'll continue using it all day until then (except when, well, you know).
