Verizon already cutting Kin prices in half

Leak confirms Kin One and Two price changes

After a false start, Verizon is now known to be slashing the prices of the Kin One and Two in half thanks to a leak this weekend. The Kin Two will drop from $100 to just $50 on contract, while the $50 Kin One is falling to $30. Both will be part of a wider sale that starts on June 28.

While sales aren't uncommon at Verizon, BGR notes the other phones in the sale are several months old or more and reaching the end of their lifespans: the BlackBerry Storm2 will drop to $150 after having been in shops since November, the Nokia Twist (now $50) has been at Verizon since September, and the LG enV Touch (also $50) has been in stores since May of last year. The last instances of price cuts for still-young phones was with Palm's lineup, when it was clear it had misjudged sales estimates and left Verizon with stock that had to be cleared out.

The slipped out information is the first sign, if still unconfirmed, of problems with Kin sales. Neither Microsoft nor Verizon has reported sales since it went on sale in mid-May, but suspicions have been raised of low sales virtually since launch. Most of the worries have centered around the choice of service plan; the Kin has a $70 minimum plan even as it's been targeted at teens and has lacked smartphone-class features such as third-party apps. For many, the option has been to either choose a somewhat lesser phone but with a significantly less expensive plan or else to get a true Android, BlackBerry or webOS smartphone with the same rates.

    Doesn't take a leak

It doesn't take a leak to figure this out; theyve been running commercials for at least a week featuring the $49 pricepoint.

It is truly amazing how pathetic MSFT is. This is a company that has a multi-BILLION dollar annual R&D budget and can't seem to get anything right. It is just as amazing that the clownfish Steve Balmer is still heading this company. The board of directors as well as the top management team should all be fired and the company should be broken up in order to maximize shareholder value. Speaking of shareholders, why have they also got their heads so far up their rectums that they haven't demanded these changes as the biggest holders are institutional investors.

    It's really insulting

The best MS can come up with are these kiddie toys for a phone, then they collude with Verizon to demand smartphone pricing and data plans to, well basically do texting. After all, that's what Facebook/Twitter, which is about all that's supported as far as data goes, essentially are. Messaging services. It's really insulting to ask so much for so little. Do they really think people are just that lame?

I am beginning to love my KIN

I am into this KIN now. I was previously using iPhone. You cannot compare this phone with iPhone, iPhone comes with a premium features but KIN is a different kind of phone. When two years back when i bought my iPhone it was unique with its superb touch interface, but now I didnt go for iPhone4 since you get lot many similar stuff in the market. And iPhone4 comes with a premium price and I think I wanted to take revenge on apple for the iPad, I preordered the stuff because of experience with iPhone. But its a c*** for that price. It doesnt load flash webpages, it cannot handle any word document, it cannot even do the google docs properly, dont have a camera, USB interface is very much specific to Apple. And I ended up paying so many bucks for that c***. But the preintgrated applications like Netflix work great on that. iBooks you cannot compare with Kindle. So I was fishing for something new and I landed up owning a KIN 2. First week was painfull for me since everything you see in this is different, sometimes I even cribbed MS for the interface. But now after 3 weeks of time, I am in love with my KIN. Really KIN spot, KIN loop , KIN Studio all are unique features which you will never see in other phones. Totally a new experience.

But my experince is unique to my usage , so it may not match with any other guy. But if you are a guy who is heavily into Facebook and Twitter stuff, dont think twice, KIN Is what you need. But right now I see many features missing , but I am hearing MS will update the software for free. I dont if its only a rumor , but I hope if they provide that I will more happy. Lot many friends are also into KIN and it adds up fun. Then if you are someone who frequently buys and installs applications dont ever think of buying this phone. It doesnt have any such facility. But if you are someone who uses facebook and twitter heavily, who listens to music and video, who check mails frequently, who browse the net sometimes..this is the device for you. I dont have any Fanboysim towards any group so may be my opnions would not make Microsoft Fans , Apple Fans , Android Fans happy..but what I felt is what I said.
