Next issue of Wired for iPad to cost less

updated 11:10 pm EDT, Thu June 24, 2010

Return subscribers to get second issue for $4

Condé Nast is still open to adapt its business model for future copies of Wired for iPad, according to the company's group president of consumer marketing, Bob Sauerberg. The upcoming issue will sell for $3.99, a dollar savings over the first release which achieved sales of more than 90,000 downloads.

“We’ll be using a variety of marketing approaches and prices to stimulate more volume for the second issue," Sauerberg told paidContent in an interview. "We’ll see how it goes and we’ll learn from there.”

Sauerberg also hints that the Wired team is planning on introducing new forms of content on the iPad app, potentially much different than the first issue. The company is also mulling a subscription option that is expected to be launched sometime in the fall.

    Not much less.

Still more expensive than their website.

    But...

How many of those first issue 90,000 actually are people who'll read wired, vs. people wanting to see what all the fuss was about with regards to reading a magazine on a portable device.
