MainGear outs gaming notebook with GTX 480M

Gaming PC maker MainGear on Wednesday introduced its latest gaming notebook, the eX-L 17. It can be had with a choice of Intel's Core i5 or Core i7 processors, topping out at the 1.73GHz quad-core i7, along with a choice of ATI's 1GB Mobility Radeon HD 5870 GPU, 2GB NVIDIA's GTX 480M or a 1GB Quadro FX 2800M. The glare-free 17.3-inch screen puts out a 1080p picture.

Standard RAM is 4GB, but up to 8GB can be optioned, as can a Blu-ray reader. A 250GB hard drive is standard, with a number of options that top out at a 750GB HDD or 512GB SSD. It otherwise has a fingerprint reader, touch sensitive hotkeys that can be used for custom macros and an HDMI output. Four USB 3.0 ports are included in the model equipped with the GeForce GTX 480M.

The highly-customizable notebook starts at $1,899, with options easily tripling this price.
