Frontier files patent lawsuit over Google Voice

Company seeks to block "one number" feature

Frontier Communications has filed a lawsuit against Google, claiming the search giant is infringing on patents related to voice services. The company suggests Google Voice uses technology protected by an existing patent related to a single dial-in number that can be used to reach customers on multiple telephone lines.

The lawsuit seeks to stop Google from offering a service linking multiple lines to a single phone number. Frontier is also asking for unspecified damages due to the "deliberate infringement" that has "irreparably damaged" the company.

Google has yet to formally respond to the initial filing. [via Reuters]
