updated 10:25 pm EDT, Tue June 22, 2010

Supports two layers of background color

InfoLogic has released a new version of its math equation editor for professionals, MathMagic Pro Edition 7.0. The software handles mathematical symbols within a simplified interface, and supports reading and writing expressions in MathML and LaTex. New to the program is support for up to two layers of background color, as well as improved equation-quality and new templates. In addition to the changes, the Adobe InDesign plug-in version of the software has been enhanced and now offers compatibility with CS5.

Other features include improved hyphen and dashes, along with an enhanced trial period that now supports up to 50 equations. A variety of performance fixes also come with the update, which results in the “apply” button no longer applying an unknown color, and the gap around the Number-width dash now being properly sized. Finally, the new version offers improved ionic expressions that can be used in chemical equations.

MathMagic Pro Edition 7.0 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and is priced at $75 for a Standard one month subscription license, or $50 for a one month Academic license.
