Samsung Galaxy S to become Vibrant at T-Mobile

Galaxy S to get rebadge for T-Mobile US launch

The T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S will get a rebadge of its own as well as a unique app lineup, based on a telling slip today. Just as AT&T's version was renamed the Captivate, the T-Mobile Galaxy S will be named the Vibrant. The leak to CellPhoneSignal also reveals that a series of clues dropped by T-Mobile are in many cases referring to the software bundle: the Vibrant will have Amazon's Kindle for Android and EA's The Sims 3 pre-installed, with a GoGo in-flight Wi-Fi deal and built-in 720p video recording also teased in recent days.

The fundamentals of the Galaxy S will still persist in T-Mobile's edition of the Android 2.1 phone, ranging from its four-inch Super AMOLED screen to the 1GHz Hummingbird processor, five-megapixel camera and 16GB of internal storage. T-Mobile native 3G, Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11n Wi-Fi are also due as the FCC recently approved a model ready for the US division's network.

T-Mobile is expected to unveil its version of the Galaxy S at a June 29 event and could ship it by July 21. A possibility remains that AT&T's version could ship in a similar timeframe as the event is run by Samsung, not T-Mobile.
