Single sets new record
The Black Eyed Peas' single I Gotta Feeling has set a new record for downloaded music, as the track has now been purchased by over 1 million customers in the UK. The single was first released a year ago, quickly reaching the top position on the local charts. With two weeks at number one, the song maintained a presence in the top 40 for a total of 33 weeks.
"Hopefully the good vibes from that song will continue to brighten people's lives," singer Fergie wrote on the band's blog.
The Black Eyed Peas have achieved 3.3 million total downloads in the UK, representing another record for sales from a single group.
Download portals, such as iTunes, now account for more than 98 percent of all single sales, according to a BBC report. Digital downloads bring most hit tracks to the top of the charts, with the number-one spot typically requiring sales beyond 100,000 in a week.

Why?
Can anyone tell me why this is a news story on MacNN? What part of Black Eyed Peas selling 1M songs has to do with Macs? Must be a slow news day...
