JooJoo tablet hacked to run on Snow Leopard

A creative user of the JooJoo tablet has successfully installed Mac OS X onto his device and shared his accomplishment on the JooJoo forum. The tablet is compatible with Snow Leopard as it's powered by an Intel Atom processor. The user, HighJinx, does admit there are still issues to work out with the install, including touchscreen panel drivers and further trimming of the OS to leave room for other software, considering the JooJoo's limited 4GB of space.

Otherwise, the touchpanel drivers are said to need development work, and the overall installation was also a bit of a challenge, though specific steps were not disclosed. Normally, the JooJoo ships with a touch-based and otherwise custom variant on Linux. The tablet was also hacked last month to run on Windows 7. [via MacStories]

    ha, great

they only sold two tablets, and each of them has been hacked for another OS, thats great.

I'm sure we'll get Android on the iPad soon as an academic challenge, not very useful of course.

So does putting a desktop OS on this tablet

make it more useful or less useful?

    A Useful Example

There are times when I wish my macbook pro was touch screen because I use the dictionary application on Snow Leopard extensively. The dictionary application has many dictionaries in it that are quite useful. I am studying for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and when I look up words I use the dictionary application on OSX it has the Daijisen , Progressive Japanese English Dictionary and other dictionaries packed into one program.

To be able to touch the screen and look up different meanings would be just that cooler.

As for this dictionary being on the iPhone OS, to my knowledge it isn't. The Japanese English dictionaries currently on the iPhones are user based dictionaries based off of EDICT, which is cool if you want a rough meaning but if you want a detailed definition the Daijisen is the only way to go.

So in this way if you can look up words using the Dictionary on Snow Leopard this would prove, to me anyways, that this would be a useful product.( sans the idea that its hacked, and in fact not endorsed by apple)

Did they notify the other JooJoo tablet owner?

This is a great chance for Apple to increase their market share from 50% of JooJoo owners to 100%.

I say get right on this!
