8GB RAM kit beats Apple price by 50-percent

Fast on the heels of Apple's launch of the new Mac mini, NewerTech has launched 8GB RAM upgrade kits for the new device. The new RAM chips are PC8500 DDR3 1066MHz CL7 204 pin SO-DIMM memory modules. The 8GB kit is a pair of 4GB modules, and a single 4GB module option is also available.

The new Mini has an easily accessed pair of RAM slots behind a spin-off bottom cover, making changing the RAM an easy task. And NewerTech is offering the RAM chips at $135 for a single 4GB chip and $250 for the matched pair, the former an unavailable option form Apple and the latter a savings of 50-percent off the Apple price for the base model 8GB upgrade.

The new RAM chips are available now at Other World Computing with introductory pricing, reducing the 8GB kit to $245 and the lone 4GB chip to $128.

    Cheap!

Wow, that's cheap compared to Crucial! I just bought a Mac mini latest model yesterday and will be looking to upgrade memory in a month or two. Got the base config (CPU and memory).
