Toshiba Satellite A665 adds 3D Vision graphics

Toshiba refreshed its notebook lineup this morning and headlined the group with the Satellite A665 3D Edition, its first North American 3D notebook. The port of a Japan-first model brings a 15.6-inch, 120Hz display that can handle stereoscopic 3D and a GeForce GTS 350M that supports 3D Vision for not just games and online videos but HD movies through a Blu-ray burner. DVD playback also gets a lift as Toshiba's upscaling technology carries over from its TVs.

The portable is built for performance and, underneath, has a 1.73GHz quad Core i7 with 4GB of RAM, a 640GB hard drive and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Toshiba promises relatively long runtimes with a 12-cell battery and significant expansion with eSATA and HDMI out among the usual ports.

Shipments should start both to retail and online as of June 20, when the system will cost $1,600 bundled with the necessary 3D Vision glasses and transmitter.
