Philips outs Fidelio range of iPod docks

Philips has officially launched its Apple-endorsed Fidelio line-up of iPod/iPhone docks. They include the DS9000, DS8500, SBD7500, DS3000 and DS1100. The DS9000 is the flagship, offering compatibility with all iPhones released to date and the vast majority of recent iPods.

It's rated at 50W of continuous power and sports two 1-inch tweeters and two 4-inch drivers. A spring-loaded docking port will accommodate any iPhone or iPod without swapping adapters; a proximity sensor lights up touch controls, and a remote control is included. A 3.5mm aux-in jack is available for non-docking devices A dedicated app can be downloaded to help users set alarm clocks, equalizer settings and display artist info when the docked iPod/iPhone is playing tracks.

The DS8500 is somewhat smaller, though retains all of the features of the DS9000. It has two 15W speakers, however.

The SBD7500 is made to be portable, and also has a 3.5mm audio jack. It can be plugged in, or powered by four AA batteries. Its power output is not specified. The downloadable app is also compatible.

The Fidelio DS3000 lets users sync iPhones/iPods with a PC, and it can also run on batteries. It has 8W of speaker power.

The DS1100 has a secondary USB port for charging other mobile devices, and is the least powerful system, at 4W of continuous power.

The DS9000 is priced at $500, the DS8500 at $200, the SBD7500 at $100, the DS3000 at $80 and the DS1100 at $70.
