Apple ready for new OS apps
Apple tonight told developers to start submitting iOS 4 apps to the App Store. Those using the gold master build posted at WWDC were urged to have the apps ready if they hoped to have them ready in time for the June 21 availability of iOS 4 for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Apps written for the new OS potentially need significant optimizations to take advantage of the new features, including the use of the available multitasking APIs to run audio or other tasks in the background. Some apps may also gain local notifications, and apps designed to take advantage of iPhone 4's much higher display resolution will need art resources and rendering changes.
