WD TV Live Plus HD media hub adds Netflix

updated 09:00 am EDT, Wed June 9, 2010

WD TV Live Plus HD latest to get Netflix streams

Western Digital expanded its set-top hubs today with the WD TV Live Plus HD. The new addition primarily brings Netflix video streaming and, unlike some other interfaces, lets users add movies to the queue from the hub instead of going to a separate device's web browser. Internet access beyond Netflix is also important as users can check Flickr photos, watch YouTube and stream Live365 or Pandora radio.

As with other recent WD TV hardware, the hub supports local media and can share files from a Mac or Windows PC on the network. It recognizes USB external hard drives, and Windows 7 users can use the Play To feature to send audio or video directly to the set-top box. Western Digital supports "most" popular formats and handles video up to 1080p.

The WD TV Live Plus HD should be available now and sells for $150.

the current version of the Roku software for Netlflix allows for adding movies to the queue. either from genre suggestions or by searching for a specific title.

i was under the impression the Wii version would do this as well.
