HP brings out budget notebook with AMD CPUs

Without any sort of official announcement, HP has launched its newest entry-level notebook series, the Compaq CQ62Z. The 15.6-inch system is powered by a 2.2GHz AMD V120 processor in base trim. Four other AMD processors are available, including a 2.8GHz dual-core Phenom II and a 2.1GHz triple-core Phenom II.

The standard hard drive is a 250GB unit, with up to a 500GB version optional. Either has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit preloaded. Up to 4GB of RAM can be optioned, with 2GB standard. Graphics are handled by an ATI Radeon HD 4250 integrated chipset, though a Mobility Radeon HD 545v with 512MB of dedicated RAM and HDMI output are options. Wi-Fi and a dual-layer DVD writer are standard, with Bluetooth and a Blu-ray burner optional. There is a six-cell battery that contributes to the notebook's 4.85lb weight.

The CQ62Z starts at $380, with shipping due to start on June 16th. [via NotebookReview]
