iHome outs iPod/iPhone dock for the kitchen

iHome on Tuesday shipped its iP39 dock for iPods and iPhones for the kitchen. It features a stainless steel finish to match other kitchenwares, and has two built-in cooking timers along with a retractable docking station. There is also an easy-wipe control panel and a magnetic remote control that can sit on the fridge door.

The iP39 has an alarm that helps users keep appointments and dates. It keeps up with most iPod-capable clock radios and can play back either the Apple device's music, content from an FM radio station or a buzzer. iHome is selling the dock for $100.

    Ummmm

Let me get this straight. It is designed in stainless steel "to match other kitchenwares", yet it has a magnetic remote control "that can sit on the fridge door". That fridge, which is made of stainless steel, is nonmagnetic.

    Hey Aeolius...

You must have slept a bunch during chemistry class. Stainless steel by definition contains more than 50 percent Iron. Magnets stick just fine to the front of a stainless steel refrigerator.

    Tried it?

Odd. I've never seen a magnet stick to a stainless steel fridge before. Perhaps the metal facade uses a different composition?
