ASUS Eee Tablet touts hyper-accurate drawing, notes

ASUS Eee Tablet a companion device

ASUS in its Computex launches has brought out a third slate that doesn't compete directly either with the iPad or e-readers. The Eee Tablet can read text but is meant as a drawing and note-taking companion to a computer and centers on its very precise display. At an extremely high 2,450DPI sensitivity, the 8-inch grayscale display has accuracy more like paper and at 1024x768 is sharper than most other tablets.

The device as an e-reader supports annotations and is faster than most of the hardware it would compete against, turning pages in a tenth of a second versus several for others. A 2-megapixel camera on the back can be used to snap photos of slides or other subjects for notes later on, and Wi-Fi provides Internet access.

The reader lasts for 10 hours on battery and is relatively OS independent, using either USB or microSD cards to move information to and from a computer. ASUS plans to ship the Eee Tablet in September and believes pricing should sit between $199 and $299.

This interests me: I tend to carry around small drawing tablets with me to sketch stuff "on the go" -- being able to just carry a device like this instead does appeal.

Not going to replace my iPad lust though.

    This is awesome

Lets see how it performs in the real world.

I think I'm prefer heading for Art and Craft store to get myself a "real" sketch book instead.
