Chips are PC8500 DDR3 1066MHz SO-DIMMs

Newer Technology has launched new RAM upgrade kits for iMacs, Mac minis, MacBook Pros and MacBooks, the NuRAM DDR3 1066MHz RAM. The RAM kits allow for up to 16GB on systems that offer four slots, with pairs of PC8500 DDR3 1066MHz CL7 204-pin SO-DIM modules. The RAM chips are all 4GB modules, available in single- or dual-unit packages for MacBooks and MacBook Pros, and sets of four -- 16GB total -- for iMacs.

The PC8500 kit works with all MacBook Pro 17-inch unibody models, All 2.66GHz/2.93GHz or Core i5/i7 MacBook Pro 15-inch unibody models, MacBook Pro 13-inch models, or 2009 iMac and Mac mini models. The kits can be ordered at OWC. The costs are $135 for a 4GB chip, $250 for a 4GB matched pair for 8GB of RAM, and $500 for a set of four 4GB chips totaling 16GB.

    Wow!

I can remember buying my first PC (IBM PC XT) in 1983 with a 10mb hard drive and 320kb of RAM. How far we have come!

    I remember word processing

I remember Microsoft Word was able to fit onto a floppy disk, now you need more than 55 of those (64MB, MS Office 2008 core elements) just to hold the program. Is it running faster? Yes, in many ways. Is it slower? Of course, some functions are way slower. Have we gained much on the MS Office front? Not much.

    Remember 2002 iMac & PowerBook G4 Ti.

The Flat Panel iMac max memory was 1GB PC133 and I believe the PowerBook G4 Titanium 667MHz & 800MHz was 512MB. That was memorable to me because that's when Apple comeback started me move to Apple.
