T-Mobile expands HSPA+ data service in Northeast

Other additions coming to Memphis, Vegas

T-Mobile has announced ongoing expansion of its HSPA+ network which brings faster 3G data speeds for subscribers. The company's HSPA+ network has been broadened in the New York City metropolitan area, including New Jersey and Long Island, along with other New York Cities such as Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse.

Other New England deployments include Hartford, New Haven, Milford and Stamford, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; Philadelphia, and the Washington, DC Suburbs. Outside of the Northeast, customers can also access the HSPA+ network in Memphis and Las Vegas.

The company plans to continue expansion across Boston and further into Washington, DC over the coming weeks. The network currently covers more than 30 million residents, while the build-out plan is expected to reach 185 million people in 100 major metro areas by the end of this year.

T-Mobile's HSPA+ network is claimed to support peak download speeds of up to 21Mbps. The technology is supported on select smartphones and mobile broadband modems, along with the upcoming myTouch 3G Slide and Garminfone.
