Sound ID Bluetooth headset gets own iPhone app

updated 01:40 pm EDT, Mon May 24, 2010

App allows customization of settings

Sound ID has developed an iPhone app that works as a management utility for the company's new 510 Bluetooth headset. The EarPrint interface allows users to adjust a variety of sound characteristics, along with the overall levels. A battery-life indicator shows the remaining charge on the headset, while users can turn off the status LED or press a button to help locate a lost headset.

The 510 headset features active noise cancellation using three microphones to help reduce unwanted background noise. Alternatively, users can activate "Environmental Mode" to amplify the ambient sound for simultaneous conversations on and off the phone.

A touch sensor provides volume adjustment, while a multi-point feature allows users to connect to several Bluetooth-enabled phones and answer or originate calls on either handset. The company claims five hours of talk time and 135 hours of standby time before requiring a recharge.

The Sound ID 510 will be available in black and white color options for $130 at AT&T stores beginning June 6. The EarPrint app is now available as a free download directly from the App Store.
