Hanvon smashes ice apple at Windows tablet event

Hanvon thinks B10 an iPad killer

Hanvon took a dig at Apple on Wednesday at the Beijing launch of its first tablet, the B10. The company's CEO and a fellow executive smashed an apple-shaped ice block in confidence that its Windows 7 tablet would improve on the iPad. The B10 shares the roughly 10-inch display size but is counting on the use of a desktop OS to draw customers away from grey market imports into Hanvon's native China.

In practice, the B10's advantages aren't as clear, since it will use a 1.3GHz ULV Celeron and Intel graphics that may preclude HD video. Hanvon's tablet will have notebook-level behavior with a 250GB hard drive and expansion that includes USB ports and mini HDMI, but it will also be over half a pound heavier than the iPad and muster battery life as short as 3.5 hours.

    People standing on Windows...

Shouldn't be swinging brass hammers with frilly ribbons.

I guess if you can't get the real thing, then this may as well be the real thing. The video shows an unresponsive tablet with near non-existant focus on usability. Half a pound heavier, 1/3 the battery life, awful graphics performance.

They are obviously focusing on the iPad, but this will only have marginal success where the iPad is not available.

    give me something solid

Give me something like the iPad but running Android at a good price and I'm there.
Everything else is just a waste of my time. :)

There is no mention of price. I don't see it having any chance against the iPad unless the list price is $250 or less. I mean 3.5 hours of use, might as well use a cheap laptop.

    Yawn...another Apple killer

YGTSM, that thing is a piece of S***. It's a tablet computer, you cannot even claim it's in the same ballpark as an iPad. 2 totally different concepts. Yeah, someone took a netbook and put a touchscreen on it, how original.

They blew it from the start, using Windows

They blew it from the start, using Windows. There pad will fail miserably like all the ones before it have for the past 2 years. They don't get it.
Apple controls the whole widget making the hardware work with the software and vise versa.
No other company can do that, NONE!
It won't work, the user will have the same lousy Windows that is on the PC, slow, unable to cope with the Pad that it is installed in.
