Nintendo 3DS spotted at FCC?

Nintendo may have shown test 3DS board at FCC

Nintendo's 3DS may have been spotted in crude form through an FCC filing. A test board for the "DS CTR" doesn't show the design by itself but does show at least one widescreen display. Most of the components are hidden in the filing, submitted by wireless supplier Mitsumi, and prevent easily identifying whether it's using a new Tegra processor or other new hardware.

Companies regularly use larger, simplified test boards to make sure their basic ideas are sound as well as to help identify problems on a more easily-accessed platform before the design is shrunk down. Few, however, submit their test versions directly to the FCC. Most instead wait until late-stage prototypes or the finished product to get approval.

The 3DS will get its formal debut at E3 this year and could use a 3.4-inch Sharp display that provides glasses-free 3D as well as a much higher 854x480 resolution and better visibility than many previous mobile displays. [via Wireless Goodness]
