IK Multimedia taking iRig pre-orders

IK Multimedia has announced that it is now accepting pre-orders for its mobile guitar amp modelling system for the iPhone, while SMEStorage has released a second beta of its upcoming cloud storage access software

IK Multimedia has released AmpliTube iRig, a mobile guitar amp and effects system for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The new product is a combination of an instrument interface adapter and a mobile application for modeling bass and guitar tones. By using the instrument adapter, users can connect a guitar to both their iPhone and an external sound source such as headphones or powered speakers. The mobile AmpliTube software can be used to model different tones through various stompbox effects, virtual amplifiers, cabinets, and microphones. Users can organize various components in any way they choose, or store combinations using 36 different presets.

The iRig instrument interface can currently be pre-ordered for $40, while the software will be released in three different versions. The free version will include three stompboxes, one amp and cabinet, and two microphones, while the $3 LE version will include five stompboxes, one amp and cabinet, and two microphones. Finally, the $20 FULL version will include the entire collection of gear with 11 stompboxes, five amps and cabinets, and two microphones.

SMEStorage has launched a second beta version of an upcoming desktop application for accessing cloud storage. Mac Cloud Drive allows users to access up to 10 commercial storage providers directly from a virtual drive in both Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6. Auto Update and View Refresh functions are new to the latest version, along with several bug fixes related to Google Docs, SkyDrive and Mesh uploads, along with another issue that prevented users from accessing MobileMe and other WebDAV clouds. In addition, the company has also announced that the next release will add syncing functionality, allowing users to sync their desktop to any supported storage cloud.
