iPad to get printing options, says Jobs

updated 09:25 am EDT, Mon May 10, 2010

Possible with fall firmware update?

The iPad will get printing abilities in the future, Apple CEO Steve Jobs reportedly claims. Asked about the topic via e-mail, Jobs is said to have answered from his iPhone, stating simply that "it will come." The lack of printing has been a criticism of the iPad since launch, given that the tablet is closer to a netbook than an iPhone, and even has a limited version of Apple's iWork suite.

Plans for printing have been rumored since before the iPad launch, mainly as a way of making the device more appealing to enterprise clients. The mostly likely timing for added support is the iPad version of iPhone 4.0, due to be released in the fall. It should also wrap in enterprise features of this summer's iPhone/iPod touch update, such as SSL VPN compatibility and wireless app distribution.

iPad printing = bag of hurt

Printer vendors will have to rewrite their drivers for the iPad. LOL.
And how will you add your printer's driver...through iTunes? LOL.
Or purchase your driver from the App store? LOL.

    That's too funny.

Tip: Email yourself the file and print it from your laptop/desktop Mac.
