Ricoh GXR 28-300mm module adds long zoom

Ricoh on Friday added its first real telephoto-ranged lens to its unusual GXR camera. The P10 includes both a 28-300mm, f3.5-5.6 lens and a 10-megapixel, back-illuminated CMOS sensor that should cover longer ranges than the existing kits. Equally new are the additions of 720p video recording and continuous RAW shooting at up to 5 frames per second.

The lens and sensor combo can adjust the amount of noise reduction from its back illumination on the spot to avoid washing out detail and claims a number of other semi-pro features, such as a two-shot high dynamic range mode, 120FPS shooting at 640x480 and a multi-pattern white balance system that is purportedly more accurate than the usual automatic approach.

Ricoh hasn't set US pricing or ship dates for the P10, but the body remains at $550 and includes the controls, a pop-up flash with a hot shoe option, and a 3-inch preview LCD.
