updated 07:35 am EDT, Thu May 6, 2010

USB speakers include microphone input

Hercules has added two new products to its line of multimedia speakers, the XPS 2.0 35 USB and the XPS 5.1 70 Slim. The XPS 2.0 35 USB is a pair of USB powered 2.0 speakers with a total power output of 2.5/3-watts that offers an integrated headphone jack as well as a microphone input for online chats. The speakers are designed for both laptop and Netbook users, and come with a padded black carrying case. Additionally, the speakers are made to meet RoHS standards and come magnetically shielded to help prevent interference with other electronic devices.

The XPS 5.1 70 Slim is a full 5.1 multimedia speaker system, complete with a center speaker, five satellite speakers, and a wooden subwoofer. Features include a frequency response of 30Hz-20kHz, and a total power output of 70-watts. Similar to the USB speakers, both an integrated microphone and headphone jack are provided; however, its volume nob also controls bass and can be used to turn the system on or off. The set also comes with a multifunctional remote control.

The XPS 2.0 35 USB is expected to released in June for $20, while the XPS 5.1 70 Slim is set to be available at the end of June for $100.
