Scosche upgrades in-ear buds for iPhone, iPod

updated 02:50 pm EDT, Tue May 4, 2010

Scosche IDR in-ears get better remotes

Scosche this afternoon revamped its in-ear headphones with four new designs. The IDR305m, IDR355md, IDR355m and IDR655m all have better in-line remotes that are moved to the Y split to make them easier to control. The microphone is also higher on the right side to better pick up the wearer's voice.

The IDR655m is Scosche's more refined model and has comparatively large 11mm drivers, dual-flanged eartips to help block outside sound, and a nylon-sheathed wire to cut down on tangles and knots. Both of the IDR355 variants have slightly smaller 10.7mm drivers and regular cords but have replaceable caps to customize the look; the IDR355m comes in white with a partial cap, and the md comes in black with caps that cover the entire back. The IDR305m has received few details but likely comes with the same 10.7mm drivers as the existing 305md, but in white.

All of the earbuds support the controls and microphone features of current iPhones, iPods and iPads as well as Macs from late 2008 onwards. Scosche is selling the top three models through its own site today at prices between $55 and $100; the IDR305m is an Apple retail store exclusive that sells for $40.
