Corsair adds 32GB and 256GB Nova Series SSDs

updated 09:35 am EDT, Tue May 4, 2010

Corsair Nova series gets new 32GB, 256GB drives

Corsair today added two new drives to its Nova Series SSD family that were introduced in February in 64GB and 128GB capacities. Now, users can also purchase 32GB and 256GB Nova SSDs, with the former meant as a boot drive in basic configurations. The 256GB SSD is for higher-end systems where both high performance and more conventional storage are needed.

Both use the relatively fast Indilinx Barefoot controller; the larger new drive is rated at 250MBps peak read speeds and 195MBps write speeds. The 32GB drive can reach 195MBps read and 75MBps write speeds. Either is compatible with the TRIM command in Windows 7 to prolong their maximum speeds, but they should also work with Macs.

The 32GB and 256GB Nova Series SSDs are said to be now available, though prices didn't accompany the launch.
