Aigo tablet rivals iPad with dual-core Tegra, Android

updated 05:05 pm EDT, Mon May 3, 2010

Aigo 7-inch tablet due this year with Android 2.1

Specs have been leaked of an Aigo tablet that could challenge the iPad in at least China. The N700 would be smaller, with a 7-inch, 800x480 display, and would run Android 2.1. The device can reportedly play back 1080p video thanks to an HDMI output, and supports Flash 10.1 on the web.

Other features of the Chinese company's device include Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi and a 3G data radio. Stereo speakers, a microphone, USB ports and a microSD memory card slot are also built in, as is an accelerometer, ambient light sensor and a digital compass.

The tablet is powered by a two-cell, 3,120mAh battery. A docking station is likely to become an accessory in the future. The device is likely to arrive sometime in 2010, but this has not been confirmed. Both 4- and 5-inch versions may also be in the plans, though no prices for any of the versions have been revealed.
