MacBooks gain multi-touch gestures
Opera has posted a new Mac version, v10.52, of its self-named desktop web browser. The release is the first non-beta update for the Mac since v10.10, and is claimed to be over 10 times faster than its predecessor. This can be attributed in part to an updated JavaScript engine, Carakan, and an updated graphics library, Vega.
The browser is now integrated with Cocoa, and has been given major interface revisions, including features like a unified toolbar. Users can also toggle Growl notifications, and on MacBooks make use of multi-touch gestures. These include zoom and scroll commands, plus a three-fingered swipe to move back and forth through site history. Opera 10.52 is a free download, and requires Mac OS X 10.3.
